FEEDERS

Many of you are asking the question of why I would need a deer feeder. Feeders are not designed to be the end all to whitetail deer feeding. They are designed to provide a consistent and efficient method of supplementing the diet of the whitetail deer. Feeders play a large part in deer management by giving the deer in your area the nutrition and supplements they need at the time of year they need them. Antlers are made up of 46% proteins and fats, therefore a well placed feeder can supply the much needed nutrients to the deer you are managing. Bucks and does need this nutrition in winter and early spring coming off the stresses of winter. Most of the grains have been gone for some time now and the spring green up is still a couple months away. The bucks need to replenish their body weights as well as feed the on coming antler development. Does need the increase in body weight for themselves as well as the need of the upcoming fawn production. In both cases by having these supplemental feeders available at the right time of the year you will have a healthier deer herd.

At Big Bucks Supply Co. we feature feeders made by “Boss Buck “. We believe this is an outstanding product both in quality and value. “Boss Buck” feeders are designed for simplicity in mind. They have a special cone gravity fed system that disperses the feed evenly to a 3 or 4 PVC port openings, depending on the model. All hardware is either galvanized or stainless steel. The hopper is 3/8” thick protected plastic for strength. A loose fitting lid is designed for ventilation but is secure enough to keep out critters and weather. These blinds are also designed for a quick conversion from a PVC port opening to an automatic timer.
